Oxygen Vital To The Skin – New Article in NSIDE MD

ImageOxygen has quickly become one of the hottest new trends in the skin care world. It’s recognized for being one of the most effective treatments for numerous skin care concerns such as acne, aging, rosacea, hyper-pigmented skin and much more.

A great deal of skin care conditions stem from a lack of oxygen supply to the epidermis. The good news is that these concerns can not only be helped but also repaired if energy is supplied to the skin with the use of oxygen. Peter Thomas Roth Clinical Skin Care has just released two new oxygen products that are providing amazing, visible results.

Peter Thomas Roth Clinical Skin Care developed the Radiance Oxygenating Serum that instantly releases oxygen into the skin and leaves it looking instantly fresher and younger. Serums containing oxygen in liquid form are most beneficial because they carry the oxygen directly into the skin.

AstridA unique blend of brightening ingredients helps to even skin tone, lighten dark spots, protect against environmental damage and combat signs of aging. Most importantly it aids in cellular renewal or turnover.

Along with the serum they created the Radiance Oxygenating Masque. The treatment masque is a cream-like substance that when massaged into the skin instantly creates a cooling foam that gives the skin the energy it needs for everyday metabolism, collagen synthesis and pore detoxification.

The masque will energize the skin and restore its natural firmness and tonicity. It also helps to minimize pores while decreasing fine lines and wrinkles.

There are many new products available that use oxygen. It’s important to research what skin care products are most beneficial for each individual’s skin. Peter Thomas Roth Clinical Skin Care never disappoints. It’s one of the most innovative skin care lines on the market today and they are continuously researching and developing the next best thing in the skin care industry. Peter Thomas Roth’s newest facial, the Oxygen Facial, features both of the new oxygen treatments and is becoming a fast favorite.

Skin Care Advice for My Cousin…

I am really bad at writing letters, making phone calls, or even replying to emails, but when my cousin sent me a Facebook message recently, I was so inspired to write back! I suddenly had so much to say. I think our correspondence is really helpful so I am going to share it here…Especially since it is very similar to the questions/concerns that I hear often from my friends and family that know I’m in the business, but don’t necessarily make the effort to go to a spa. I have copied it here:

“Hey Cous…
I am in need of your expertise & knowledge. Looking in the mirror today, I realized that I am getting older as well as my skin. I was wondering if you could give me some advice on some good products (cleaning, moisturizing, etc.) to help keep my skin as healthy looking as possible. I eat right, exercise and drink plenty of water. I hardly ever wear makeup, but I don’t really moisturize and do things like that like I should. Any advice would be great when you get a chance. Hope all is well. Talk to you soon, _____ ”

Hey, lady. I’ll give you what advice I can, but without knowing some of your skin characteristics, I can’t give really specific recommendations. If you want good advice, go see an esthetician or visit an esthetics school and have them give you a skin analysis.

In general, you should be cleansing twice a day, applying sunscreen in the morning, wearing a treatment or moisturizer at night, and exfoliating a few times a week.

This means: cleanser: if you are oily, look for something foamy and if you are dry, look for something creamy. Glycolic acid is a good anti-aging ingredient to look for in cleansers and if you have breakouts look for something with salicylic acid as well.

Sunscreen-at least SPF 15 daily moisturizer-THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO PREVENT AGING…PERIOD. Treatment or moisturizer…this is the part that really needs to address your specific concerns-if you are prone to breakouts, you will need a clarifying mask or a spot treatment, and if you are dry you will want some hydration to treat overnight…right now the buzz ingredient is HYALURONIC acid. It closely mimics your natural hydration and is like a HUGE dose of water to your skin cells.

Exfoliation-this is a vital part of a skin care regimen. D

ead skin cells lead to congestion, a dull complexion, and wrinkles. There are 2 types of exfoliation-chemical and mechanical. Chemical you can do with acids (in a peel or with acidic ingredients in products). There are some great at-home peel products like MD Skincare Alpha Beta Deluxe Treatment or Peter Thomas Roth Unwrinkle Peel Pads or Max Complexion Pads. Mechanical you can do with scrubs, microdermabrasion, or even a gentle one with a washcloth (make sure you get your nose really good with the washcloth). The key is to make sure you are exfoliating in some way, shape, or form. It stimulates collagen production (anti-aging), cell renewal AND gives you a healthier glow.

Masks are also available for really specific treatments and make for some relaxation when you can find time to do them. Of course, I also recommend regular facials (especially for professional extractions, general relaxation, and truly customized advice) but I know that isn’t always possible.  If you have rosacea, malasma, or really sensitive skin your treatment and regimen would really have to be customized….the biggest mistake people make is using the WRONG products for their skin type and concerns (and then wondering why they aren’t getting the results they want).

My favorite skin care line is Peter Thomas Roth because there is something for everyone, there are great starter kits, and the products have a solid concentration of the ingredients that deliver results. However, if it is not in your budget and you need to get something from the drug store, let’s take a trip together and I’ll help you choose the right stuff.

If, after reading this, you have more specific questions or questions about products, please send an email to our spa director, Astrid at She will be happy to give you specific advice!
